Kris Anderson

The Hundred Hole Hike is a wonderful opportunity for me to support some very important causes personally and professionally. I am raising money to help support research to help those fighting leukemia. My mother, Helen Anderson, was a fantastic person who had 5 children, but lost her fight with leukemia at the age of 43. In her honor I am pledging to walk as many holes as possible, and will be thinking of her throughout the day. She was a Special Education Teacher, a great friend to many, and a wonderful mother.

The Hundred Hole Hike also showcases the important health benefits to walking the golf course. Many of our members at Holly Hills CC make the effort to walk 18 holes instead of riding the cart. They do so knowing that at the end of 18 holes they will be a little tired, but also feel energized from their effort and their knowledge they have made themselves healthier over the last 4 hours of golf. Golf is one of the few sports you can:
1. Play Outdoors and enjoy the natural beauty of the golf course
2. Use both your body and your mind in a game against yourself and your best scores
3. Play when you are young or old, and anything in between
4. Teach your children some important life lessons while also playing a game with them

I can never measure the impact golf has had on my life. I only know that it is a game for a lifetime, and if I stay fit (by walking) then i can play it for a long lifetime. My best wishes to all the Hundred Hole Hikers!
