Alan Gard

Hundred Hole Hike Year 3! My name is Alan Gard and I live in Omaha, NE, with my wife Beth and our 3 children. I am a native Nebraskan (Go Huskers!) but spent 13 years living in Connecticut after graduating from the University of Nebraska. Beyond my day job as an Actuary (although I like to think of myself more as a developer of individuals) and spending time with the aforementioned young family, I pursue passions across a wide spectrum with golf being one of the strongest (but currently the least least until the Hike). Others on the passion list include wine, Husker fandom, photography, music listening, and learning/education. I'm on the Board of Directors of the Nebraska Methodist College, and we are members of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. My son Alijah has Down Syndrome. Last year I raised over $12,000 through my 100 Hole Hike for the Down Syndrome Alliance of the Midlands in honor of him. This year, I am looking to raise money for Lumind Research Down Syndrome, an organization focused on stimulating biomedical research that will accelerate the development of treatments to significantly improve cognition, including memory, learning and speech, for individuals with Down syndrome. Please visit my page at Thank you for your support of my Hike and of Lumind RDS!

38 confirmed Chariots. Almost $7500 pledged/donated (assuming I reach my 108 hole goal) so far. I am AMAZED at the extremely generous support from our friends and family.

Alijah's Chariots

Jim is probably kicking himself right now: he invites me to join in his walking golf fundraiser and one of the first things I do is start blogging about a cart.
