May Update.......

As of this writing Matt Elliott and I are less than 40 days from our Hundred Hole Hike at Dismal River Golf Club in Nebraska. I believe this a good time to update everyone on the progress so far. First, I want to thank all of my family, friends, co-workers and clients that have already made pledges to support Champions Committed to Kids. I can’t thank you all enough for your generosity. Second, I want to make a final push to add pledges and make this fundraiser the absolute best it can be. If, by chance, this is the first you are hearing about this, please take a moment to read my first blog titled “All you need to know about my Hundred Hole Hike”. It is a great way to learn all about the event, why we are doing it and all the great things you need to know about Champions Committed to Kids.

Matt and I have both been training for the event for over 2 months now. Some days I question if I am doing enough. Life is busy right now and I don’t get to spend as much time running and playing golf as I probably should.

One thing I discovered in training for this event is that playing a round of golf while speed walking and jogging is not as easy as one might think. Our first test run was a bit of an eye opener for me. Back in March we walked 18 holes at Fremont Hills, carrying our own bags, and finished in just under 1 hour and 40 minutes. Based on my GPS watch we covered almost 5 miles and I burned 1,600 calories. The legs felt good, but the score was not good at all. It is hard to think about speed and time and still slow down enough to hit a good golf shot every time. Recent rounds have been much better. I can walk 9 holes at Twin Oaks in the evenings in less than 40 minutes if I have the course to myself. I am sure people that see me hit the ball, quickly grab my bag and start running up the fairway think I am crazy.
No doubt, 150 holes in one day will be quite the physical and mental challenge. However, I am confident we will both be ready!

I will have another update before leaving for Nebraska in mid-June. We will also have updates throughout the day of the event on our social media pages. My wife, Jennifer, and Matt’s wife, Tegan, will not only be our caddies, but they will also provide the updates.

If you would like to make a pledge please click on the “PLEDGE TO THIS GOLFER” button below. 100% of the money raised will go directly to Champions Committed to Kids. Also, please share to help us spread the word and raise more money for a great cause. Thanks again for reading and thank you for the support!!
