One of my first blogs was "40 & 108" – essentially me mentally working through the fact that somehow I got to be 40 and that I am generally OK with it. The "108" was in reference to my goal to walk six rounds at the Kingsley Club on June 25th.

I am pleased to announce I survived the Hike and exceeded my goal by a few holes.

It is hard to describe what a great day it was - the course couldn't have been in better shape, the weather was perfect, the staff at Kingsley exceeded all expectations again, my fellow Hikers welcomed me into the group and made me smile, laugh, and push on to achieve my goal. My amazing wife walked the last 54 holes with me and a good friend carried my bag for two rounds.

I played pretty fast - my average round was 1:43. My average score was just over 86. I only lined up one putt all day – for birdie on #1 on my fifth round of the day - and I made it! I carried just a three wood, hybrid, 6 iron, 8 iron, pitching wedge, sand wedge, and putter.

My body held up great until the 87th hole and from there it was a slow and steady decline - my knees started to hurt going up and down the hills at Kingsley and I actually considered rolling down the hill on #17 on my last time through.

The only lingering effect was a case of shin splints that I think are behind me now....

I actually got up this morning and went back to the gym for the first time since the HHH - prepping for next year and my goal to play one more hole than this year.

Thanks to everyone who has posted here and for all the advice - it really helped.
Thanks to Tim Bert for being a great captain for the Kingsley team!
Thanks to Jim for your long day in 2011 and for starting this long summer of long days in 2012.

I can't wait for 2013!
